I grew up in a village in South Africa in the work of the Apartheid period. Given my Indian heritage, I was one time classified as "non-white" & had to live in an Indian designated area.

As a "non-white" person, there were restrictions placed on us. They were not allowed to eat at positive restaurants, not allowed to try out clothes in positive departmental stores, not allowed to visit positive beaches, & only allowed to make use of "non-white" bathrooms.

I made a choice at a young age that I would make something of my life & be anyone.
